Instead of listening to the overwhelming majority of voters who spoke out, Venice City Council approved new zoning and building regulations in July 2022 that:
- Increase building heights downtown
- Allow up to 6-story buildings across many parts of Venice
- Eliminate protections for Venice’s historic neighborhoods
- Allow large-scale commercial development in residential Planned Unit Developments (PUDs)
